How to Keep Warm at a Winter Wedding

Indian Wedding Wear - kaseesh

A winter wedding sounds romantic and ideally looks like something out of a fairytale. And it can look like something out of a fairytale if it snows, but with the ever changing British weather, it’s very hard to predict how the weather will turn out on the big day.

With the weather in mind, it can be tricky when it comes to choosing an outfit to wear at a winter wedding. Not only do you want to show off your inner fashionista, but you also want to keep warm, as the last thing you want to remember about the big day is how you shivered and shook as the blustery wind skimmed over your skin. This later led to you being unwell.

To avoid being cold down to your bones, while retaining both style and elegance, follow our tips for helping you stay warm.

Firstly, avoid the sleeveless blouse because bare skin is the quickest way to feeling cold.  It’s actually a myth that only older women cover up their arms, and you can find many outfits with full length sleeves without compromising on fashion. Below are three examples:

Secondly, don’t be afraid to layer up! There is the option to team your traditional Saree, Lehenga or Anarkali with a scarf, shawl or jacket. When choosing your fabrics opt for something a little heavier like silk or velvet to really keep the chill out. Anarkali style suits and the Salwar Kameez are great choice because they can usually come ready to wear with long sleeves and are available in many splendid styles and colours, so you cannot go wrong!

Thirdly, invest in some thermal body warmers. You can often by the top and bottoms separately and some are made to feel like a second skin. Pop on a pair of thermal leggings and slip your Churidar or other trousers over the top. Guaranteed snug-bug!

Fourthly, find a good pair of winter shoes that are suitable for occasions such as weddings. Open toe shoes are not ideal as when your feet get cold, the rest of your body will soon feel cold too. If you choose ballet pumps, find some pop socks – some even go up the leg, as they will keep your toes warm and they won’t be as obvious as normal socks, and you won’t feel afraid to step out in style. Also you can find great discounts on Anarkali suits online.

Lastly, enjoy yourself. It may be briskly cold against the rain or snow, but join in, have fun and get on the dance floor to get your blood pumping!
